Peter Lawson’s production company Steel Springs Pictures specialises in developing and producing film and TV projects across a range of genres and has a deep commitment to relaying impactful true-life stories. 

Peter has built an impressive career over the past two decades as a production executive and Executive Producer heading up production divisions at Miramax Films, Thunder Road, The Weinstein Company and Open Road Films. Peter was an Executive Producer and central to the creative and commercial success of Tom McCarthy’s critically acclaimed and Oscar award winning film SPOTLIGHT and the Keanu Reeves action franchise JOHN WICK.

Steel Springs Pictures’ first film ALICE, starring Keke Palmer, premiered in Competition at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, and was released theatrically in the US through Roadside Attractions, and Universal Pictures internationally. Upcoming on the slate is the 8-part television series KILL JACKIE starring Catherine Zeta-Jones for Amazon Prime set for release in late 2026; UPRISING, based on the extraordinary true story of Howard University’s soccer team from writer Taylor Materne (HUSTLE); THE BANKSY from writer Neil Cross; an Untitled Australian genre thriller with Dylan River, Shaun Grant and Blackfella Films; and a satirical comedy feature based on John Safran’s book PUFF PIECE.

In 2024 AACTA-nominated producer Bonnie McBride (SPEEDWAY, DEMONIC) joined Steel Springs Pictures as Head of Production. The company is committed to promoting fresh and innovative voices, and is particularly interested in pursuing Australian stories, utilising local talent, with the aim to bring unique perspectives to screens worldwide.
